Goodbye Diego...

I'm afraid that this is a sad day for boxing because former junior lightweight titlist and lightweight champion Diego Corrales was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that happened last Monday night. The accident occurred at the intersection of Fort Apache and Russell Roads in southwest Las Vegas, where Corrales has made his home for many years.

This is a great loss for the sport of boxing as he was a fighter who has thrilled boxing fans worldwide with his mental tenacity, physical toughness, shocking punching power and unyielding spirit in the ring for years.

This brave fighter compiled a 40-5 (33) professional record, is survived by his wife of five years and their three children.
